The Kotri Taluka was created in 1960’s and its
geographical area is 1845 Sq. km. The boundaries of Taluka
consist of in its North Manjhand, East Hyderabad/ River Indus,
West Thana Bula Khan and Thatta / Karachi, South Thatta. There
are in total 10 UCs, One MNA and two MPA, and 90% of its
population is Sunni and 5% is Shia 2% Christians, 3% Hindu.
Taluka Kotri is credited with centre of learning and three major
Universities of Sindh are located i.e. University of Sindh
Jamshoro, Mehran University of Engineering & Technology Jamshoro
and Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences Jamshoro.
There is also one Cadet College at Petaro, for Higher Secondary
students and is also affiliated with Pakistan Navy. Taluka Kotri
has one Barrage i.e. Kotri Barrage. Kotri has also one
Industrial Zone in which nearly 46 Units are operational. It has
one Liaquat Medical Hospital and three other health facilities
in this Taluka. In this Taluka there is major power project is
running viz. Jamshoro Thermal Power. There are nearly 11 tribes
and communities living in this Taluka, such as Khoso, Shoro,
Khaskheli, Mallah, Burfat, Syed, Behari, Memon, Balouch, Pathan
and Panjabi. The Taluka has one T.P.O. and 04 Police Stations
i.e. Kotri, Jamshoro and SITE Kotri. There are six Political
Parties working in this Taluka and Pakistan Peoples Party has a
majority where as PML (Q) and Jeay Sindh Mahaz, Jeay Sindh
Taraqi Pasand and MQM (Altaf Group). The list of important
